Custom LCD/LCD Module Development Process

Experienced, on-site application engineers work with customers to design the most cost-effective display solution to meet their specific requirements.

Product Definition and Quote

In the product definition and quote stage, Ocular's application engineering department translates customer requirements into a product specification comprised of electro-optic characteristics, product ratings and a mechanical specification. This specification provides an objective assessment of customer requirements for an accurate price quote.

Engineering Feasibility Study and Mechanical Design

Once the customer accepts the quote and places an order, Ocular's engineering department generates a full set of mechanical drawings and specifications based on the customer's drawing or description of the LCD.

To ensure design accuracy and minimize design cycle time, Ocular generates all drawing and artwork using its custom computer-aided design tools. Since the type and size of display images are determined by each individual application, Ocular designs custom LCDs that display a full range of graphic elements - such as bar graphs, graphic patterns and symbols (icons).

Prototype Fabrication

After the customer reviews and approves the mechanical drawing and LCD specification, Ocular's engineering department designs the photomask based on the approved drawing, generates a production photomask and uses the photomask to make the prototype.

Volume Production

Once the customer approves the prototype, Ocular prepares and begins volume production. Deliveries begin after a specified lead-time.
