TRUE Multi-Touch

Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch

Projected Capacitive Touch Panel

Multi Touch

The Crystal Touch family of projected capacitive touch panels includes TRUE multi-touch panels in 4.3″, 7.0″, 10.1″, 10.4″, 15.6″ and 17.0″ sizes. Providing a variety of panel options, the Crystal Touch portfolio allows for additional products to benefit from the advanced technology of projected capacitive touch.

Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch represents the next generation of touch technology. Increasing the amount of touch points on the panel will allow for greater functionality and additional interface possibilities. Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panels can support up to 16 simultaneous touch points and have the sophistication to identify and disregard unintended touches. Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panels come standard with the touch sensor and controller that can be incorporated into devices and the top glass layer of Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch serves as the surface of the touch interface.

If an additional layer of glass is required, Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch PLUS PCAP touch panels are now available with an optically bonded, soda-lime cover glass, which is design-ready and can easily be incorporated into zero-bezel designs. Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch PLUS is the newest standard panel offering to the Crystal Touch product line and comes pre-integrated with a soda-lime cover glass optically bonded directly to the touch sensor. The PCB board with the multi-touch controller chip is also included with standard products.

True multi-touch panels are similar to single touch applications with how they interact with the controller. However, instead of a single touch point and single source of instructions given to the controller, a true multi-touch panel has additional touch points that can all be interpreted simultaneously and give increased functionality to a product.

The Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panel offerings are aesthetically pleasing, giving products a clean look and feel. Utilizing Ocular’s projected capacitive touch panel also lengthens the lifespan of products by increasing durability and enhancing optical clarity. The top layer of glass keeps the panel clean and can withstand harsh chemicals and cleaning agents. In addition to the ability to withstand harsh chemicals, Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panels can also endure harsh environments and extreme temperatures.

Ocular also offers additional product enhancements through Customization and Design services, such as Optical Bonding. This technology takes an already durable Ocular product and adds the technology of DuPont™ Vertak® to increase sunlight readability, impact resistance, durability and scratch resistance.

Ocular’s Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch line of projected capacitive touch panels give products a competitive advantage with its clean look and true multi-touch interface. Featuring all glass construction, the Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch provides maximum optical clarity, does not lose its shape or deform over time and extends the lifespan of a product due to its increased durability. Made from capacitive glass, the all glass construction provides a smooth surface that can withstand a wide range of temperatures: operating temperatures range from −20° to 85°C and storage temperatures range from −30° to 85°C.

In addition to harsh environments, Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panels are ruggedized and can handle abrasive cleaners, preventing any damage that may be caused if interaction with harsh chemicals occurs. This ultra-rugged panel is scratch resistant and can be an upgrade to products currently using a resistive touch interface or a single touch projected capacitive panel.

Projected Capacitive Coupling provided by Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch has a high resolution of 4096 x 4096, a fast sampling rate of 100 Hz, (10 ms per scan), auto calibration and is not restricted to just touch; panels will also work with a tethered stylus.
